A general AI agent or a Campaign HQ: when to use which

This week we spent a night inside a general AI agent that had just raised a large round. It made a good client report fast. What it did not do is the thing that keeps an agency trusted.

The general agent is impressive. One sentence, and it builds a website, a deck, a spreadsheet, a video or a report. We asked it for a monthly Instagram report for a cafe in Sanur, in Indonesian, in an agency's voice. It arrived fast, six pages, and the insight was real: one reel carried almost half the reach, and the door from Instagram to WhatsApp was too narrow for how well the team closes.

Then we looked at what was missing. The report was born in one chat and ended there. No client, no period, no version, no way to lock a report that has already been sent. The voice was warm, but it was nobody's agency voice. And its Instagram agent offered a switch to post straight to the client's account without anyone seeing the post first.

Two different jobs

A general agent is built for a business owner with no marketer. It answers the question “please do this for me.” A Campaign HQ is built for the person who is the marketer for several brands at once. It answers the question “how do I stand behind every sentence and every figure in front of a client?”

  • If you work on your own brand and need a website, a deck or a video as well, a general agent is the right tool.
  • If you want one agent to post and buy ads without you reviewing every piece, that is the tool too, and it is a deliberate choice.
  • If you manage other people's brands, every sentence has to pass approval, and your monthly report has to hold up in a meeting, you need something else.

What keeps an agency trusted

Not the speed of the first draft. The general agent wins there, and that deserves saying. What keeps an agency trusted is three boring things: approval before anything goes live, a brand voice that holds from month to month, and figures that trace back to their source when the client asks.

That is why Levrit has no “post directly” switch. Every campaign stage stops at your desk. The Brand Brain keeps the voice, audience, offers and banned words for every brand you manage. And the report reads the Meta Ads, Instagram or GA4 export as data, then marks a figure the export does not carry as a gap rather than guessing it.

Use both, deliberately

Some teams will use a general agent for websites and video, and a Campaign HQ for client campaigns, monthly reports and approvals. That is a sensible split. What is not sensible is letting the tool decide for you because it answered faster.

If you want the comparison row by row, including where the general agent wins, we wrote it plainly on the Levrit vs Runable comparison page.
